A Letter from Carl Dair About the Papermills of Amalifi, Italy
Carl Dair, with introduction & afterword by Robert R. Reid
A four-page letter, printed in facsimile, from Canadian typographer Carl Dair to a young Robert Reid and Will Carter, recounting his visit in 1962 to this famous papermaking region. Reid corresponded with Dair during the 1950s and early ’60s; most of these letters were donated to McGill University, but this letter remained in Reid’s files.

The letter in Dair’s elegant hand reproduced from polymer plates, printed damp on handmade Amatruda paper — one of the mills Dair mentions in the letter.
